First Main Point: Working with outline numbered text in Microsoft Word

You can move an outline numbered item to the appropriate numbering level on the Formatting toolbar:

  • To demote the item to a lower numbering level
  • click a list number
  • click Increase Indent.
  • To promote the item to a higher numbering level
  • click a list number
  • click Decrease Indent.

You can use this procedure to help you plan your speech and organize your thoughts.

About creating a PowerPoint presentation from a Word Outline
PowerPoint uses the heading styles in your Word document.
Heading styles are applied when you use numbered outlines
Heading styles are already turned on for you in this template.
For example, each paragraph formatted with the Heading 1 style becomes the title of a new slide, each Heading 2 becomes the first level of text, and so on.


Open the document you want to use to create a PowerPoint presentation.
On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Microsoft PowerPoint.
This procedure makes it easy for you to create a PowerPoint presentation based on the notes you’ve prepared for your speech in Word.

If you use heading styles to create longer documents, you can see a document’s organization in Outline view, and use it to prepare your speech.

A small business wants to start implementing eCommerce within their organization. Your task is to create a presentation that explains to the business owners the advantages and the key elements of technology infrastructure that are needed to ensure successful implementation.

Your presentation should:
  1. Be 7-10 slides in length (not including title and reference slides); each slide should have four to six bullet points.
  2. Include presenter’s notes for each slide to further detail the key text that is included on each slide.
  3. Cite and integrate sat least two credible scholarly sources in addition to your textbook.

Citations must be integrated into the presentation and all references must be listed on the Reference slide and formatted according to the CSU-Global Guide to Writing & APA.

You have been named the Administrative Director at Trident International Hospital (TIH) and will be presenting your PPT to the Board of Directors at TIH for approval. TIH is restructuring to meet the current needs of their consumers.

For this assignment, you are responsible for creating a department organizational chart for both the inpatient and outpatient departments at TIH.

Using the research and information presented in your Case 1 assignment, you should:
  1. Design a department organization chart for TIH’s inpatient and outpatient department.

    -Describe the personnel that will staff these units.

  6. Your presentation should be at least 5-6 slides (not including the title and reference slide). Speaker notes are required.
